| | energetic | ] | I was using Trillian for quite sometime as my unified Instant Messenger (IM). I was happy with it except that the free version of Trillian does not support Gtalk. Jogging my memory for sometime I found Pidgin.
It perfectly suits my requirements. Uses little computer's resources to run, can connect to about 16 messenging services and is quite stable. It used to be called GAIM before but Pidgin is nicely revamped and has a good interface too. |

| Life updates in 2007 |
[Jul. 23rd, 2007|02:51 pm] |
I am still around and got lots of new things started in 2007.
* Learning to play guitar: One of the best things i started out this year. Yeah, I know it took me way too long to figure out this hobby. But hey, better late than never. Good stress buster and keeps me occupied most of the time. I get more curious to know more about music each passing day. As my teacher says most of the time.... it is indeed one of the 7 wonders of the world :-)
* Project fitness freak: Decided to be more fitness conscious this year and so bought a bicycle. But, not been getting enough time to ride. But, i have been watching my diet closely and being more selective in what i munch. Have been able to add in some kind of a workout by playing TT as and when i find time.
Work has been quite a challenge and it does make work more interesting. |

| Admit to your mistake! |
[Jul. 3rd, 2007|09:57 am] |
Why is that most of the people find it tough to admit to a mistake they have done? Does it hurt their ego? Reminds me of a dialogue in Lage raho munna bhai....the meaning goes something like "shouting at someone is very easy but saying sorry or asking for forgival is the most difficult thing to do" Note to myself: Always remember "having guts always works out for me" |

| Trip to talakad and Somanathpur |
[Jun. 27th, 2007|04:44 pm] |
Went for a 1 day trip to Talakad and Somanathpur. Trip was fun with just me and couple of my colleagues. Though, the road after kanakapura was bad. Took more than 4 hours to cover 121 kms. while coming back we took the mysore road that was much better.
If you are planning to travel toTalakad from Bangalore, better road to would be the the mysore road. Take the road to Bannur from mandya and follow the road to Somanathpur. There are some patches in between that are bad at this road but much better than kanakapura road.
Overall a good getaway trip. |

- Keep on trying to take the step forward
- Stop trying
- Gather enough strength to kill the object pushing you behind
Though, doing any of the first two makes sense. I prefer the third option. |

| | ru ba ru- Rang de basanti | ] | Last weekend was quite fun. Had been to mandya. My x-colleague turned a good friend's parents stay there. Thought of going away from a very busy Bangalore humdrum to a calmer village place. Had lots of fun.
Also, visited the *rangana thitu* bird sanctuary at Srirangapatna about 30kms from Mandya. Was amazed at watching lots of birds. Guess, i have got bitten by the shutterbug as well. Took lots of snaps. Will post them sometime soon. What has got me more addictive is the bird watching. I want to do this more often. |

| | Kandisa- Indian Ocean | ] | I am back in India after a good trip to Dallas. Well, i wanted to write out the experiences as I saw them but just couldnt make myself enough time. I thought life in Bangalore was fast and actually got to know what fast is in US. In all, it was a good experience. Watching good, clean and wide roads, cars moving around normally at more than 120kmph and still feeling its slow going. Sometimes making me feel why we cannot have such things in India? Pondering over, i guess it all boils down to Like one of my friend said, "In countries like US everything is done to help the people and in India it is to help people's people". But it is not all roses in US too. As i found out people living there (especially Indians), complain about feeling lonely. No matter how much money they make....they dont find friends or neighbours spending time or even nagging them like in India. :-) Well, the whole trip has atleast inspired me to do something for the society in here. Have made some plans and hopefully this year i should be able to get a start on them. |

| Computer comic strips |

| | cheerful | ] | Was looking for some cartoon strips on computers and related stuff. Yeah, i do get tired sometimes. Google search gave me a whole lot of interesting websites. Found exhaustive amount of cartoons in http://www.glasbergen.com/cat.htm . This is a cartoon website which is a professional one and probably have to purchase them for even printing them or putting them on the intranet sites. Well, i just wanted them printed and put up on walls of my cube. So searched for a creative commons licensed cartoon and linux together. Loved this site comic.escomposlinux.org. Lots of linux cartoons on them. For the software developers i found a cartoon blog maintained by Siddharth Uppal very cool. Cant stop laughing on his cartoons. Enjoy!!!!! |

| | thoughtful | ] | Out of the many differences I have been noticing between us and the Americans, i found one of these very interesting. When two people are conversing and the conversation goes something like this
Guy1: hey i was talking to bond about it, he didnt like that idea Guy2: Bond who? Guy1: James Bond! It's not of that quality (Guy2 didnt hear the last comment properly) Guy2: It's not what?
Well, no "sorry" or "beg your pardon" or "come again". Go straight to the point ask back. We Indians follow more of a British english, more formal one.
Seems like i've been updating my journal only on sundays. Trying my best to do in between the weekends, but has been quite an hectic week. |

| Me in Dallas |
[Jan. 15th, 2006|07:10 am] |
| [ | Current Mood |
| | tired | ] | Started off my Journey with a flight at 2:15am on the 14th. It's almost 20 hours of flying and about 4hours in waiting for the check in, security check etc. lufthansa flight from Bangalore to Frankfurt was very tiring for me to say the least. Got a seat in the middle and so taking a break or walking in the flight was a difficult proposition. And the economy seats are not so comfortable too. I find domestic flights in India much more roomy than this luft flights (except the AirDeccan ones ofcourse).
Reached Frankfroot (That's how they pronounce it there) at about 8:30am local time. I was made aware of that i'm in the country of Germany as soon as i got down from the flight. My bottom half of the body almost freezed, rest of my body was covered with two sweat shirts. Got fresh there in the airport, got the first hand experience of using a tissue instead of water. I must have carried a bottle of water with me. It still feel YUCKS!!!!!
The flight from Frankfroot to Dallas was better than from Bangalore. Used the internet on this flight while flying, it was broadband and was quite cool. Weather here in Dallas is quite warmer today. Good for me.
Well there are some of my initial observations about US that is different from India, that is for my next entry. |
